Ep.31 John Hughes presents the Hyundai i45 Activ
Hyundai is now the world’s fastest growing car company offering vehicles at seriously good prices. If you want to really talk value though, look no further than the 2010 i45 Activ.
In the space of 25 years, Hyundai has gone from being a bit of an automotive joke to a global car-making colossus. It’s now number 5 in the world and number 4 in Australia.
There is not a top 10 car maker anywhere who is not feeling the hot breath of the Korean powerhouse on their neck.
The Hyundai i45, which replaced the Sonata, is now delivering what can only be called ‘aggressive pricing’ in a feature-stacked package.
The Active comes with 6 airbags, stability control, hill-start assist, fog lamps, cloth/leather seats, cruise control, USB/iPod connectivity and 16-inch alloys with a full-size spare.
This Hyundai is styled in the US and features a lot of chrome bling on the window sills, handles and grille. The roofline also swoops like a Mercedes CLS or Passat CC.
Build quality is superb, as is the standard equipment list. The interior, which was designed in South Korea, is classy, functional and has quality switches and controls, suggestive of a rather more expensive car. The Lexus-like vacuum-fluorescent instrument display, stylish piano black gloss details and integrated centre console design also provide upmarket ambience.
All materials are of high quality and there’s good space in the front and rear. The generous boot swallows 523 litres of luggage (and that’s without even folding the 60/40 split rear seat).
There is simply too much to the package to ignore - its 5 year warranty, premium feel and added extras - but, most importantly, what it offers for the money. This vehicle really is too good to pass up.
